About overhead storage systems
The square footage above the cars is the cheapest storage in the building. Fixed racks hold seasonal boxes; motorised platforms and attic lifts bring the load down to you instead of sending you up a ladder.
What to check before you order
- Ceiling joist spacing and construction — this is a structural load
- Drop height, so the rack clears the garage door and the roof of the car
- Rated capacity, and whether it is per rack or per square foot
